The key to successfully drying wet carpet is TIME:

– Most carpets can be saved if they are fully dried within 7 days of the flood.

– The longer the carpets are wet, the more odours they develop – and if they are wet for more than 7 days, mould can start to develop.

– Warning!  Even though you carpet feels like it may have dried out on the top, the underlay and carpet backing may still be damp – this is a trap that even some professionals fall into.

So how do the professionals dry wet carpet?

1. Start the restoration process as soon as possible.

2. If the carpet is “squelchy” wet then extraction of as much water as possible is required.

3. When the carpet are damp, drying equipment can be installed.
